This year our team had a large break between games for the month of February. At first, I was going to stay in Russia and explore Moscow. However, I didn't feel comfortable with the language barrier. This left me trying to figure out what I wanted to do instead. Playing basketball for a living has been an absolute blessing. It has allowed me the opportunity to travel the world, and to see and live in parts that I would have never imagined! However, because of our schedule, it doesn't leave much free time to sightsee and explore the areas we visit. This time, I knew I had to take advantage of the opportunity...

I'll never forget my first time arriving in Russia and having that, 'Kayla, you're not in Kansas... er... Canada anymore' moment. We had just finished our preseason tournament in the beautiful country of Lithuania. There, we were surrounded by nice buildings, delicious food, beautiful weather and normal bathrooms. I had no idea that Russia would be a completely different experience...
